my title is descriptive!
sorry if this has been posted before, my internets being all stupid, and i only could search through the index of ideas thread easily...

i just started my ranger, she's a level 10 right now, and i have 5 (or 6...) points in expertise. but, when i look down at my ranger skills (kindle arrows, powershot, etc.) they still say 5 energy, or 10 energy. they don't cost 5 energy, or 10 energy, because i noticed i could use a 10-energy skill when i had 8 energy.

why can't they make the energy numbers green, like those other numbers that change with attributes (attack power is 35 instead of 32 at x amount of attributes)? this would only be for a ranger, of course. so when you have 5 points, power shot could say energy: 8 instead of energy: 10 (not sure about these numbers).

this would be really helpful, as i can't exactly memorize how much each one of my attacks cost with expertise. i wouldn't have to wait for 10 energy to cast a skill that really requires 7 energy now, because of expertise.

When i was new to GW, i almost decided to send Anet an email saying that the ranger skills were bugged. lol.
I never because i thought it would be shooting myself in the foot and i would wait or someone else to tell them.

It definitely needs to be changeable green numbers, not the static blue...not just for "noobs" but because it makes perfect sense too.

I agree. Put a variable on Ranger skills for energy cost, and then evaluate the Expertise level of the character, letting us know how much the skill would ACTUALLY cost when it's in our skill bar.

It would defenetly be an improvement, though I already know just how much my skills use :P. Though leav the numbers blue, just make them show the right number. Making it green would have no addition.

This is a pretty good idea. Me, as someone confident with simple multiplications, don't find it annoying when it doesn't change, because I know what the cost is.

On another note, I think they need to fix a small bug with Ranger skills and Energy cost reduction with Expertise. The description of the attribute says it reduces the cost of Attack Skills, Preparations and Traps, yet I've noticed when using skills like Lightning Reflexes (a stance), it allows me to use it when I only have 8 Energy.

Almost all non-spells cost either 5 or 10 mana. That's only 2 numbers you have to memorize for whatever Expertise value you are using. And this site already has a handy chart to look up the mana costs, so you don't even have to calculate it yourself.

Plus, having more numbers or different-colored numbers would confuse new players who didn't make a Ranger.

it'd only be for a ranger. the energy doesnt even have to be green, it can stay blue. i just suggested green because static numbers are usually blue and changing ones aren't. and green>blue.

i'd think it'd be much more confusing for a new player to add points to expertise, thinking his energy cost would go down, and it stays the same. i know, its all pretty basic, but what can i say...

You can say your right. One thing I learned when programming is that whatever you make you have to make sure even an idiot could have no problem with opperating it. (Not that I am calling anyone an idiot :P). So this would be an overall good addition.
